The State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) has launched an investigation into the detention at a military enlistment office and the issuance of a summons to a lawyer who came to assist a client detained by the military, according to the National Association of Advocates of Ukraine.

The State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) has launched an investigation into the detention at a military enlistment office and the issuance of a summons to a lawyer who came to assist a client detained by the military, according to the National Association of Advocates of Ukraine.

The Association states that in a Chernihiv Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC), a man who had called for a lawyer was being held, but the military also detained the lawyer and issued him a summons.

However, the lawyer appealed to the Committee of the Association of Advocates for the Protection of Lawyers’ Rights and Guarantees of Legal Practice. They confirmed a violation of Articles 19, 28, and 29 of the Constitution of Ukraine, which guarantee that no one can be forced to do anything not provided for by law, everyone has the right to respect for their dignity, as well as freedom and personal inviolability.

The lawyer contacted law enforcement agencies, but no criminal case was opened. The lawyer then went to court, and the court ordered the SBI to open a case regarding this incident. As a result, the SBI has initiated an investigation.
